Paul Conroy is a freelance photojournalist working extensively in combat zones and from places of conflict. In 2012 Conroy and war correspondent Marie Colvin were reporting from the Syrian city Homs, covering the plight of Syrian civilians trapped and under siege and relentless military attack from the Syrian army. On 22nd February, the media centre in which Conroy and Colvin were based was shelled by Syrian government forces. The blast left Colvin dead and Conroy severely injured. In this In Conversation, Paul Conroy recounts this monumental experience to John Robb.
